With one more month to go until ‘The Walking Dead’ Season 7 premiere, AMC continues to drop clues as the network releases a new trailer for viewers to think about.
The latest clip zeroes in on the newest villain, Negan, played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan, as well as the characters who are believed to be safe this coming season- Carol (Melissa McBride), Tara (Alanna Masterson), Morgan (Lennie James) and new series regular Dwight (Austin Amelio).
The new ‘Walking Dead’ season 7 trailer makes it clear that Negan will lay down the rules this time, drawing attention to the terror that his reign will bring to the survivors and delivering his orders with his traditional psychotic beam and baseball bat twirl.
According to speculations, other characters who could be saved this season include Rick (Andrew Lincoln), Daryl (Norman Reedus), and even Glenn (Steven Yeun). Such rumor was based on the birthday greeting made by the cast for Demi Lovato while they were filming on set.
Carl could also be lucky this time as Negan said the following words before hitting his death blow on the unidentified victim: “Anybody moves, anybody says anything, cut the boy’s other eye out and feed it to his father."
While the Grimes gentlemen are a bit fortunate than the others, it is also speculated that characters such as Aaron (Ross Marquand), Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green) and Eugene (Josh McDermitt) will not be hit with the deadly bat owing to showrunner Scott Gimple’s promise that ‘The Walking Dead’ season 7 premiere will bring on a great tragedy that possibly refers to a main player in the series.
As such, this leaves only Michonne (Danai Gurira), Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Abraham (Michael Cudlitz) as the targets who are most likely to be beaten to death. However, Cudlitz himself issued the following statement when asked about his storyline for upcoming ‘Walking Dead’ season 7 episodes.
“Abraham will continue for a while now. Now we get to see what a world with Negan and Abraham both in it will be like. That’s something we don’t see in the graphic novels. So a lot of cool stuff happens,” the actor shared.
On the other hand, Cohan has often been absent from the ‘Walking Dead’ set and posted several photos on Instagram that are clearly not from Atlanta, resulting to TVGuide’s conclusion that her character will be killed off during the premiere. After all, killing off a major well-loved player who is pregnant will come as a terribly shocking twist, explaining why people who have watched Negan’s scene were greatly disturbed.
‘The Walking Dead’ season 7 premiere will be on Oct. 23, Sunday at 9pm ET/PT. Similar to previous installments, the seventh season will be comprised of 16 episodes and will be aired in two parts. The first eight episodes will be aired beginning October 23 whereas the last eight will be kicked off in February 2017.
