The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is considered one of the best games of 2015. If you watch the Smosh Games "Honest Gaming Trailer" for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, it says that the "franchise's biggest flaw is that you will have to quit your job or drop out of school to experience it all". Even with all of this, the RPG game is having its first expansion, Hearts of Stone, being released right now, even though the physical edition of it is being delayed. However, when it comes to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt next downloadable content (DLC), Blood and Wine, it could be released later than anticipated.
According to CNET, the actual Blood and Wine product page has a release date of Q1 2016 for the expansion. CD Projekt Red, the maker of the popular game, had a representative tell Gamespot that "we'll be communicating more about the exact launch date of Blood and Wine at a later point in time".
iDigitalTimes reports that in the press release for the Hearts of Stone expansion, CD Projekt Red adjusted their release date for Blood and Wine from Q1 2016 to a release date to the first half of 2016. This means that the release date for Blood and Wine could happen sometime in June rather than January.
This definitely means that Blood and Wine will come out later rather than sooner, much to the disappointment of Witcher 3: Wild Hunt fans. This second paid expansion for the game is going to take place in a brand new region called Toussaint. The official description is "a 20-hour tale that will introduce the all-new in-game region of Toussaint, will take Geralt [main character of the game] to a land untainted by war, where an atmosphere of carefree indulgence and knightly ritual masks an ancient, bloody secret".
Until the Blood and Wine expansion comes out, players can still explore something new with Hearts of Stone, which has scored an impressive 9/10 on Gamespot. Unfortunately, Tech Times reports that those who wanted the pre-purchased special physical edition of Hearts of Stone that comes with real Gwent cards will find that this has also been delayed.
CD Projekt Red has stated that the reason for the physical edition of Hearts of Stone delay is "due to logistical problems". They also said: "We are working with GameStop to fix this situation as soon as possible and deeply apologize for the inconvenience. If you don't want to wait, you can still order the game in digital format and purchase your cards separately on www.redeemgwent.com."
The digital version of Hearts of Stone DLC, available for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4, costs $9.99 and offers 10 hours of new gameplay as well as new characters, monsters, romances, and storylines. As for when the Blood and Wine DLC will be out, CD Projekt Red will probably have a more exact release date by the end of the year.
