The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has become one of this year's most anticipated video games. Even though the release date is only just days away, the developer, CD Projekt Red, is still releasing trailers and news updates to really show off how terrific the game will be.
Game Trailers has spent about a week playing The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. They wonder "how this game could even be made". They describe the game as having "complex branching storylines, challenging combat, wondrous creature designs, all in a stunning and enormous world where every corner has had a close and personal touch".
Even though the game is set to be released this next week, new trailers for it are still being released. In fact, iDigitalTimes reports a trailer for "A Night to Remember", which shows Geralt, the game's protagonist meeting a lovely lady, who suddenly becomes a monster. The animation looks fluid, and it is possible that the trailer is a preview for a cutscene in The Witcher 3 or some scene that ties together The Witcher 2 and The Witcher 3.
It is very apparent that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be well-received after its release. A recent tweet has revealed that the game has exceeded 1 million pre-orders worldwide. The game also received some interesting press as it appeared on a segment of Conan O'Brien's show known as "Clueless Gamer".
For those that aren't familiar with The Witcher series of video games, they are some intense action role playing games set in an open world. The Witcher 3 is probably going to be the last in this series based on the fantasy novels of the same name by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski, but these games take place after the books. In Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the player once again plays witcher Geralt of Rivia as he continues his adventures from the previous two games, The Witcher and The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings. Geralt must face a massive army known as the Wild Hunt as they desolate the Northern Kingdoms.
The Witcher 3 has a setting "30 times larger" than the previous Witcher games, being described as 20 percent bigger than the popular Skyrim fantasy game. Gamespot has reported that CD Projekt Red will offer a free DLC (downloadable content) for Witcher 3, with 16 add-on packs, not tied to any platform.
Gamespot also reports that there will be two major expansion sets that will not be free. The first of the expansions is called Hearts of Stone, where the player must go into "No Man's Land" on a quest to find the "mysterious man of glass", and this will have a release date sometime in October.
The next Witcher 3 add-on is called Blood and Wine, and it is expected to provide 20 hours of gameplay in an all-new region known as Toussaint. There isn't much more details about Blood and Wine except that it will arrive by March 2016.
The wait isn't long as the game will arrive on the PC, PS4, and Xbox One platforms on May 19, 2015. You can preorder it from Buy the Witcher now, and there are Collectors Editions of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt available.
