Tim Tebow Responds to Cut by Patriots with Class, Remains Unwavered in NFL Dream

By Joshua Cheng

Tim Tebow, former Heisman-Trophy winner and two-time NCAA Championship, upon learning New England Patriot's decision to release him from the team on Saturday afternoon, gracefully responded with a statement of class and unwavering conviction in God's plan for his life and his determination to continue his NFL quarterback dream.

“I would like to thank you Mr. Kraft, Coach Belichick, Coach McDaniels and the entire Patriots organization for giving me the opportunity…to be part of such a classy organization,” said Forbes’ 2013 Most Influential Athlete on his Twitter post. “I pray for nothing but the best for you all.”

Because the regular season will begin next week, it will be hard for any team to enlist him for the upcoming 2013-2014 NFL season. And most teams have set in stone their roster for the next season after careful observations throughout the draft and the preseason games. In addition, players have developed team chemistry among the existing players. Although the chances are slim, it is not to say that Tebow won't be recruited.

Tebow, a devout evangelical Christian and an overachiever, testified by many of his teammates and coaches, vows to continue in the “relentless pursuit of continuing [his] lifelong dream of being an NFL quarterback,” according to his Twitter post.

His faith, performance, work ethics, and character have inspired young and old for something greater and that is Jesus Christ. Throughout his career in NFL and college football, the 26-year-old quarterback has always attributed his achievements first to God and, at this moment, accepting his weaknesses as part of God's plan in his life for a greater future.

Along with his response to the entire Patriots organization, Tebow wrote a scripture verse from 2 Corinthians 12:9, “And He has said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient…for you, for power is perfected in weakness.’ Most gladly, therefore, I will rather…boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me.”

Even in the worldly viewpoint of failure, Tebow continues to point to the Lord, who he believes has been the source of his strength in all circumstances. His actions on and off the field have encouraged Christians to not be ashamed of their faith in Jesus Christ.
