Tim Tebow is one of those football players that created quite a stir a few years ago not only on the field, but for his displays of faith. Most of remember the brief Internet fad of "Tebowing", where someone gets down on his or her knees, leaning their elbow on their knee, while leaning their head on their fist. Like most Internet fads, it quickly ended, but Tebow is now a free agent, with many wondering what team he will be playing for.
According to Showtime Sports, the Chicago Bears lost their starting quarterback, Jay Cutler. He could be gone for a very long time depending on how severe his injuries are. Right now, Tim Tebow might be the best option for the Bears quarterback until Jay Cutler is able to return.
Speaking of quarterback changes, the Eagles coach Chip Kelly is making a change, but this doesn't involve Tim Tebow, according to NBC Sports Pro Football Talk. The Eagles have swapped out third quarterbacks, releasing Stephen Morris and signing Thad Lewis. Lewis was part of final cuts by the Browns this preseason, but he has also had experience with the Rams, Texans, and Bills.
Tim Tebow's history is quite an interesting one. His rise to fame began in 2011, when he began to be a starter for the Denver Broncos. He is seen as instrumental for helping the Broncos win their first AFC West title and first playoff game since 2005 against the Pittsburgh Steelers in overtime. Tebow was then traded to the New York Jets as the Broncos acquired Peyton Manning, a free agent at the time. Tim didn't get to play for the Jets, and was then released after drafting Geno Smith. In 2013, Tim signed a two-year, non-guaranteed contract with the New England patriots, but was cut from the team shortly thereafter. This year, he signed a one-year contract with the Phildadelphia Eagles, but then was released to be a free agent.
The Inquisitr states that rumors indicate that the former Heisman Trophy winner "may be done for good this time after being cut by the Philadelphia Eagles". He was a surprise pickup for coach Chip Kelly, and there were expectations that Tebow would be a "camp arm" who could take pressure off the injured Sam Bradford during training camp and the preseason, but Tebow "appeared to slowly climb up the depth chart". It looked like Tebow had a good position with the Eagles, but in the end was cut.
So what is next for Tim Tebow? The player has not come out and said whether or not he will try again in the NFL, but unless that Chicago Bears deal opens up, it could be the end for him as far as football playing is concerned. He has made his return to the SEC network working as analyst, and he'll have a great career there.
