Many gamers have waited with anticipation for Red Storm's latest game inspired by it's founder, Tom Clancy. The Division promises to be an excellent third-party shoot set in a post-pandemic New York City, but it has been delayed, and one wonders when is the release date and reason for this delay.
At 2013's Electric Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles, otherwise known as E3 to gamers, Ubisoft announced that Tom Clancy's The Division would be available sometime in 2014. Game developer Ubisoft has now admitted that The Division will be available in 2015 for the Xbox One, PS4, and PC, but PC Advisor states "that's been deemed optimistic by some".
The official website for The Division states that "Working on The Division is a once in a lifetime opportunity for all of us at Massive, Reflections, and Red Storm Entertainment. We are creating something we are really proud of and we don't want to compromise on quality. We are going to release the game when it's ready."
So what is the nature of the holdup? According to Venture Capital Post, it has to do with the game development team not yet perfected some of the game's components. Developers have been pouring in additional resources to make the game great for those that love Tom Clancy's games. The Division is also the first in a new series that uses a brand-new Snowdrop gaming engine that is designed for the latest gaming consoles, so this could also create some complications.
From what it seems, the company is attempting to avoid an awkward situation that occurred when Battlefield 4 was released. That game was not finished, and it resulted in a lot of backlash by gamers for that franchise that will hopefully be restored once Battlefield Hardline gets released.
According to IGN, The Division takes place in New York three weeks after a lethal virus is released on Black Friday. Society falls and the President activates The Division, a top-secret unit of self-supporting tactical agents. Division agents are trained to operate independently of command, and players will delve into the world of fallen New York City, which has been overrun by clans willing to do anything to survive. The gameplay involves exploring through New York through very familiar landmarks, and there will be a lot of third-party shooting.
This would be the first time that Tom Clancy has tackled anything in the post-apocalyptic genre, which is quite common in most video games and other science fiction franchises. Tom Clancy, an author who passed away on October 1, 2013. He left behind a legacy of novels that are most famous for introducing the now iconic character of Jack Ryan. In addition to his book contributions, he has inspired a video game series known as Rainbow Six, about an counter-terrorist unit focusing on teamplay and realism. There is another video game in that franchise which is pending release known as Rainbow Six Siege, and it also has an unknown release date.
It is possible that The Division could make an appearance at E3 2015. If that is the case, then perhaps the game could have a possible holiday release, which is a good time for games to be released. It is possible to pre-order it on Amazon now for the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
