The Toyota Prius has quite a reputation for green cars, as it is one of the cleanest vehicles sold in the United States based on smog-forming emissions, and is one of the all-time most fuel efficient gasoline-powered cars available in the United States. The car is about twenty years old from when it was first unveiled in Japan but didn't come to America until 2000.  Since its unveiling, Toyota has sold 5 million of these cars, and this is everything that is currently known about the Toyota Prius 2017 Release Date, Specs and Price.

The 2016-2017 Cars Models website states that the automaker has added a plug-in to the hybrid model for the 2017 edition, and will be redesigned from the inside out.  The new Prius will be 2 inches longer, a half-inch wider, and an inch lower than the current model.

In fact, Car Reviews Release states that the new model has a one-inch-lower focus of gravity on account of the new TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) stage which uses all the high-quality steel and gives 60 percent more noteworthy torsional unbending nature.  This allows for multilink back suspension, which is heavier than the past torsion bar but gives more good suspension geometry.

This means that 2017 will have much more interior space, as the rear seats will be split-folding for more cargo space.  It is promised to be "more modern and styled", and the dashboard will have a completely new design.  Other new features include Bluetooth, USB capability, keyless entry, rearview camera, lane departure warning, pre-collision braking and much more.

As far as what is under the hood, get ready for a re-engineered engine from the 2016 version.  This is a 1.8-liter engine combine with a 53-kilowatt motor that delivers 121 horsepower.  The battery is also going to be more powerful than the previous model improving the electric vehicle range to 30-35 miles.  It is expected to be more fuel efficient as well.

The exterior design will be more dramatic and attractive with some newly sculpted lines. It has some LED headlamps inspired by Acura's Jewel Eye as well as a redesigned hood, grille, bumper, and fenders.

The 2017 Toyota Prius is expected to hit the market later this year, possibly in the fall.  The price is expected to start at $25,000 or possibly go up to $30,000.  These numbers are likely to change as it gets closer to the actual release date, and the numbers on the specs are likely to go up as well.  After all, Toyota really wants to present the Prius as a car for the new environmentally conscious, so it makes sense to be as fuel-efficient as it can be.
