So far, we have been attempting to keep our Gospel Herald readers in the loop as far as Transformers 5 is concerned. We have a release date of June 24, 2016, assuming that production elements will come together. We even have some rumors of the cast. Today, I want to explore and respond to the Transformers 5 rumors.
Michael Bay will not direct
One of the things we previously reported about Transformers 5 is that it sounds like Michael Bay is indeed out. According to Crossmap, Michael Bay isn't leaving the franchise, as he will stay on as executive producer or producer. So who is taking over as director? None other than Jonathan Liebesman, director of the recent Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot, which Bay served as executive producer.

Michael Bay has become most infamous for his films with a short attention span pace, lots of explosions, and a lot of feminine eye-candy. With him still on as the executive producer, he still has a lot of say in what happens in the film. If Liebesman directs, he runs the risk of looking like a cheap imitator of Michael Bay, which kind of happened with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film. In other words, I don't know anyone will notice that Bay is not in the directing chair once they see Transformers 5.
The potential G.I. Joe crossover
There are still rumors going on about bringing aboard Bruce Willis and Dwayne Johnson and creating a G.I. Joe and Transformers crossover film. Considering that Hasbro owns the rights to both franchises, it could be a potential box-office draw. However, Lorenzo di Bonaventura, the producer of the Transformers, has stated in an interview that this crossover was "not a realistic proposition, at least not in the near future".
His official comment appeared on Enstarz as Bonaventura said: "It's not something we talk about either. There's a lot more story to be told in both cases. And I think if at some moment we think, 'You know what? It's time to bring the two of them together, 'we'll do that. But I think they're strong enough to exist on their own."

If a crossover has to take place, someone has to start it, and it better have a bigger plan. Marvel has made billions on their films and TV shows because the stories crossover pretty well, and Hasbro better have at least two movies with a joined story before they consider taking a page from that playbook. I've heard very little about a third G.I. Joe film, but it might be smart to plan a story that begins in Transformers 5 and ends in G.I. Joe 3, or vice versa.
Personally, I think Hasbro wants to milk as much money off these two franchises as possible, and the idea of G.I. Joes attacking ninja Cobras in vehicles that are Transformers is just too awesome of a vision to pass up.
The Casting Choices
We all know that Optimus Prime, Galvatron, and all the other cool robots will populate Transformers 5. So what about Mark Wahlberg, who played the human side of the Transformers in the last film? All rumors seem to point to Wahlberg being in, reprising his role as struggling inventor Cade Yeager. There is even rumors that Megan Fox might return, according to Parent Herald.

I think that much of the complaints of the Transformers live-action movie franchise can be summarized by: less people, more robots. I personally think that the live-action films are correct in making the humans the main characters, unlike the original animated show where the robots were the main protagonists.
The problem is that if the robots get too much screen time, then the world of Transformers becomes more computer animation than live action footage. Sadly, the films are becoming that as the battle scenes get bigger and more over the top. One thing that fans have been clamoring for is more of Cybertron, the homeworld of the Transformers.
Perhaps at the end of Transformers 4, when Optimus Prime blasts off into space, is meant to be a set-up for Prime to arrive on Cybertron in Transformers 5. If so, then he'll probably go after the creators of the Autobots and Decepticons, who are the 5-faced Quintessons from the animated series. This could lead to some very interesting computer-generated graphics, but not much human interaction.
We know that the studio wants to put out a new Transformers movie every two years, which was the gap for the first three films. A delay could move Transformers 5 release date from 2016 to 2017. What do you want to see in Transformers 5? Leave us a comment below.
