The rollout of Android 5.0 (also known as Android L or Lollipop) has been really slow when it comes to arriving on flagship phones for certain companies. LG is one of them, and users of the LG G3 with Verizon will be glad to know that it has finally come. This news is better late than never, especially since some leaks of the LG G4 surfaced this past weekend.
According to Phone Arena, the Verizon Wireless version of the LG G3 has finally received its Android 5.0 update at long last. The LG flagship phone will be receiving some new features that card notifications, multitasking, and a "new Material Design of apps". The update will arrive over-the-air (OTA) on Verizon LG G3 phones, and will join T-Mobile as carriers of the LG G3 who have Lollipop. We also reported that users of the LG G2, the former version, got their Lollipop first.
For those that have wanted to have at least a peek of the new flagship phone from LG might not have to wait much longer. According to Ubergizmo, a well-known leaker named Evan Blass has discovered the new LG G4, the sequel to the LG G3.
A site that Blass linked to has been since taken down, which means that the site could be fake or accidentally (or maybe intentionally) leaked by LG. Considering that the LG G4 was not due to arrive until April 28th, it is interesting to see what it could be.
How do we know that the LG G4 will be unveiled on April 28th? For one thing, a recent invite sent to Tech Radar has a close-up of the LG G4 with a tagline of "LG invites you to the official unveiling of the LG G4".
One thing to notice from the illustration is that the LG G4 will have a carbon-like front and leather back. The Leather is something of a new touch, as this hasn't been a part of the rumored specs. For example, it is rumored to have a 5.5 inch Quantum Display LCD display, possibly QHD resolution, not to mention a battery of 3,000 mAh and microSD slot. Then there is the 13 Megapixel Camera or 16 Megapixel camera, but we have heard that there will be a f/1.8 camera with an infrared color accuracy sensor. That last part about the aperture is true, and we have confirmation of that.
According to The Geek Church, the leaked report shows a lot of colors available on the leather look. I suppose that we'll have to wait until the end of the month to see what the LG G4 really has in store, but perhaps you might like that little preview.
What is really causing a stir is the presence of LG G4 cases. It is common to have the case unveiled before the smartphone is officially announced, and the case for the G4 is ever-so-slightly curved, according to TechRadar. It is not as pronounced as the G Flex 2, but it is there.
