A new trailer for ‘Vikings’ season 4B was released during the show’s panel at the San Diego Comic-Con 2016 last Friday. While the video offers interesting storyline details about the upcoming second half of the fourth season, it also draws attention to the scene in which Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel) shared a kiss with ex-wife Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick).
Speculations have then suggested that the former power couple might rekindle their romance when series returns to History Channel this fall.
"There is nothing I would like better than those two to get back together again," ‘Vikings creator Michael Hirst said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. "But it's very difficult to imagine how that would be possible. What I can say is that for those people, for those fans who care for them and would like them to at least meet again and talk and remember stuff, they won't be disappointed."
While viewers should not expect the former couple to go back to the way they used to be in Kattegat, Winnick’s character will seemingly cross paths with another character whom she will fall in love with.
Hirst further clarified why fans should not be shocked with the new direction towards which Lagertha is being pulled by the show.
"What you have to ask yourself is who can Lagertha trust anymore? Can Lagertha ever trust another guy?" Hirst explained. "She's been betrayed by every man she's ever been with, so it kind of makes sense that perhaps she might trust a woman more than a guy. But that's not to say she would have a particularly profound relationship right now; it may be something she needs at this moment in time because she can't trust men anymore."
Meanwhile, other ‘Vikings’ season 4B spoilers suggest that Queen Aslaug (Alyssa Sutherland) could face great danger in future episodes. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly during this year’s Comic-Con, Winnick and her co-stars shared certain details that are suggestive of Aslaug’s distress.
"It's going to be a cat fight," Winnick shared. "The two power women go head to head. It's a really interesting scene because you don't expect what happens."
In another report, it was stated that Aslaug is briefly shown with blood all over her as she struggles on the ground, resulting to rumors that Sutherland’s character will meet her death before ‘Vikings’ season four ends.
On the other hand, much of Aslaug’s storyline has been reportedly correct in comparison with verified historical details. As the Queen is known to have never fought another female over her husband Ragnar, the bloody scene in the new trailer could also suggest a miscarriage after fighting with Lagertha.
The trailer also draws attention to an imminent storm as well as Ragnar's grownup sons.
His eldest, Bjorn Ironside (Alexander Ludwig), speaks with the Seer who cautions him about the return of his father that will also bring calamity and tragedy.
Bjorn is strong-minded in his goal to show his strength just like his father. Deciding to travel to France, Ludwig’s character speaks face-to-face with his uncle Rollo (Clive Standen) and shows him a map of the Mediterranean Seas to request for his fleet’s safe passage.
Seemingly eager to renew their uncle-nephew relationship, the trailer reveals that Standen’s character would want to join Bjorn on his new adventure. Rollo also admits to his wife Gisla (Morgane Polanski) that he cannot say no to the part of himself that remains a Viking.
‘Vikings’ season four returns this fall on History Channel.
