Good news for Fallout fans out there! Fallout 4 walked home with Best Game of the year award from 2016 BAFTA awards night. The post-apocalyptic game is also one of the huge success stories of the evening. Now, here is the latest news about 2016 British Academy Game Awards.

Fallout 4 had not won a prize in any other categories before receiving the top award. The victory of the game marks the 1st win for the Fallout series which has been previously nominated six times. Bethesda's boss, Sean Brennan, told that he had not expected the outcome.

"I'm genuinely humbled to receive this on behalf of Todd Howard and Bethesda Game Studios," Brennan added.

In a BBC report, Brennan also recalled that the Fallout franchise started out small before it became one of the biggest gaming franchises.

The role-playing game set in Boston beat other Best Game nominees. According to VG24/7, Fallout 4 beat Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain, The Witcher 3, Rocket League, Life is Strange, and Everybody's Gone to the Rapture. Only Metal Gear Solid 5 and The Witcher 3 walked home empty handed.

Bethesda's Fallout 4 is the latest title in the post-apocalyptic RPG series. It is set in a devastated America.

Interestingly, independent titles also dominated the said Game awards. As The Guardian reported, three independent titles ruled the night. They were Her Story, Everybody's Gone to Rapture, and the sci-fi sports sim, Rocket League. Each of these three independent titles won three awards a piece.

The awards for independent titles started in Everybody's Gone to Rapture. It won Best Music, Audio Achievement, and Best Performer for Merle Dandridge for her role in the game. Another independent title, Her Story, won Best Debut Game, Mobile and Handheld, and Game Innovation. Rocket League is also one of the big independent winners of the night. It bagged Best Sports Game, Multiplayer, and Family.

BAFTA Games Awards is an annual British awards ceremony that honors "outstanding creative achievement" in the industry of video games. The annual British awards was first presented in 2004. The recent 2016 BAFTA Games Awards held at Tobacco Dock in London.
