The Xbox Live Game with Gold program gives Xbox players the chance to play a free game every month. For the month of April, it has granted two, but several are wondering what the Game with Gold free game for May 2015 will be, and if it will also be doubled.
In addition to playing certain games for free in May, Xbox Live Gold subscribers are going to be given a special deal this weekend. GameInformer reports that to celebrate the start of the NBA playoffs, Xbox Live Gold subscribers are going to be able to play Visual Concepts' NBA 2K15 for free starting at noon Pacific time on Friday, April 24th and ending Sunday night at midnight (also Pacific Time). It will also be possible to pick up the NBA 2K15 bundle that includes the game as well as 15,000 VC (the currency in the game) for 40 percent off the MSRP on Xbox Live. In case you are wondering, all achievements and saves will transfer from the free to full version.
Since Microsoft usually unveils the free game every last Thursday of the month, it is really impossible to speculate what games will be available for free in May 2015. Games with Gold subscribers are probably going to need to wait until April 29th for more details.
In the meantime, feel free to enjoy the free games that are available since April 16 and will expire on April 30. For Xbox 360, it is Army of Two: The Devil's Cartel, the third game in the famed Army of Two third-person shooter series. The game stars to military operatives named simply Alpha and Bravo with single-player and multiplayer campaigns, as well as customization of masks, outfits, and weapons upgrades.
Also available for the Xbox 360 for free is Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. This is actually the sixth installment in the popular franchise, following the story of a pirate named Edward Kenway, who is grandfather of the protagonist from Assassin's Creed III. In addition to the stealth fighting and freerunning that have made the series so popular, the player can command cannons and swivel-guns in an age of piracy.
As for Xbox One, Pool Nation FX is available for the rest of the month. It is a game of billiards with photo-realistic graphics and real-world physics. Also available is Child of Light, which is inspired by fairy tales where the player plays Aurora in the world of Lemuria who must battle of the Queen of the Night.
Xbox Live Gold program is a paid subscription service for the Xbox community, but Xbox users can sign up for free. With Gold comes features like online gaming, private chat, and much more. Microsoft really sweetened this deal back in E3 2013 when they announced their Games with Gold program, which allows Xbox 360 subscribers to receive a complimentary game twice a month, while Xbox One subscribers receive one game per month.
With the free game coming in May 2015, or maybe two, we can only wait on this official announcement until April 29th.
