Xbox Live with Gold subscribers are getting two times the number of available free games, according to the latest announcement from Microsoft. That means members will get a total of six new games to download in April 2015.

The usual number of free games is one for the Xbox One and two for the Xbox 360 console. This month, Microsoft is making available two free games on Xbox One and four free games on Xbox 360. Starting April 1, members will have access to four of those six games.

In the sections below, we will examine each of the free games:

Pool Nation FX (Xbox One), Available All Month Long

Games for Gold members will be the first ones ever to try this title. Players will play a virtual game of pool that boasts photo-realistic graphics and real-world physics. There will be a variety of game modes that includes online matches. Gameplay revolve around rule sets. If the player is up to the task, he or she may compete in Leagues.

Child of Light (Xbox One), Available All Month Long

The fairytale-inspired game has players taking on the role of Aurora, a coming-of-age heroine magically transported to the world of Lemuria. Aurora will battle through hordes of dark minions sent by the Queen of the Night. Players will decide whether Aurora will ultimately save the galaxy. The champion's powers include flying, sword fighting, and the ability to turn light into a weapon.

Gears of War (Xbox 360), April 1-15

Taking place before the events of the epic original trilogy, players take on the role of young COG lieutenant Damon Baird. Unlike its predecessors, the game does not feature an open environment. Instead, missions are contained within a six-chapter story arc.

Gears of Wars fans will certainly welcome the game's familiar over-the-shoulder perspective and cover system. Gameplay includes a single-player campaign mode as well as multiplayer.

Terraria (Xbox 360), April 1-15

In this side-scrolling sandbox adventure game, players will dig tunnels and build structures. The focus of the game is interaction with the environment. Naturally, enemies abound. So, fighting is going to be a big part of the gameplay. This gameplay is similar to Minecraft.

Army of Two: The Devil's Cartel (Xbox 360), April 16-31

This is the third game in the Army of Two third-person shooter series. Unlike the previous two games, enterprising mercenary duo Elliot Salem and Tyson Rios will not be available as playable characters. The plot instead focuses on the exploits of two military operatives named Alpha and Bravo. Even so, Salem and Rios will make a cameo appearance in the main story. Customization features include masks, outfits, and weapons upgrade. Gameplay revolves around a single-player campaign and multiplayer.

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag (Xbox 360), April 16-31

The sixth major installment in the Assassin's Creed saga follows the story of notorious pirate Edward Kenway, grandfather of protagonist Ratonhnhaké from Assassin's Creed III. The gameplay includes melee combat, stealth, and freerunning - just like in the previous installments. Players will also take command of large sailing vessels bristling with 18th century firepower such as cannons and swivel-guns. Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag features an open world setting during the Golden Age of Piracy. Maps include oceans, exotic isles, period-accurate towns, and lost civilizations.
