The Nexus smartphone and tablet line has been very successful, as pre-orders of the latest Nexus phones are always flooding in. Many of the Nexus phones are getting the rollout for Android 5.1, and this leads consumers to wonder what is in store for the next version of the Nexus.
Tech Times is reporting that the Nexus 5 is starting to receive the Android 5.1 update, which is very good news since Google initially announced it just a month ago. The 5.1 update will solve some problems that a select number of users have received after Google's official announcement.
This leaves the big question of when the Android 5.1 updates will be rolling out for other phones in the Nexus series like the Nexus 4, the Nexus 7 (cellular version), the Nexus 7 2013, and the Nexus 9. Updates have been confirmed, but no individual release dates. Fortunately, the update could be version 5.1.1, which is designed to fix bugs found in Android 5.1.
Okay, assuming that Google will roll out some form of Android L on all of its Nexus series (the Nexus 6 comes with Android 5.0 out of the box), what is next for the Nexus series? The latest smartphone probably won't be called the Nexus 7, but I wouldn't put it past them for the company to call it something like the Nexus 7 phone or some name that would make it easy to find on Google's acclaimed search engine.
The International Business Times reports that Google could be modeling its latest Nexus phone after the LG G4. Yes, the LG G4 has not been released yet, but some of its specs have been made available. If this is true, then one can expect the Nexus 2015 phone (or whatever they will call it) to have a 5.5-inch screen profile similar to the LG G3.
As for the G4, it is expected to have a boost of 120 percent color gamut than those that use the Quad HD panel. This equals a brighter handset display as well as a higher contrast ratio, without the pressure on the battery.
I suppose this leads to the question of when the next Nexus smartphone will be available. The only answer that I have to that is sometime in the fall, and it will probably take place after the LG G4 is officially announced.
I guarantee you that pre-orders of this Nexus phone will probably be problematic at best. Gotta Be Mobile reported last October that the pre-orders for the Nexus 6 were a joke. This was because the pre-orders filled up in only a matter of hours, and similar events took place with the Nexus 5 and Nexus 6.
Whatever the plan to carry the next Nexus smartphone, there had better be tons in stock and hopefully all the major carriers will have it on deck for its clear holiday explosion of release. Until then, Nexus users will have to be content with their Lollipop rollout.
