Android 6.0 Marshmallow Update Release Date for Moto G 2014, 2015; Moto X 1st and 2nd Gen, 3rd Gen, Moto E on Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint

Two months ago, Google made it official and showed off their rollout of their latest version of their operating system, Android version 6.0 (also known as Android M or Marshmallow).  Google has always made certain that they will beat the other competing Android smartphones by allowing the latest version of Android to come to their Nexus devices first.

After that, it is essentially a waiting game as companies like Motorola attempt to bring the upgrade to the latest of their Android devices.  Here is what is known about the Android L Lollipop and M Marshmallow Update for Moto G 2014, 2015; Moto X 1st and 2nd Gen, 3rd Gen, Moto E for carriers like Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint.

When we last reported on the Android update for Motorola phones, about the only update was that there was an Over The Air (OTA) update available for Moto X Style and Moto X (2014 edition) users in Brazil and India.  According to Android Pit, this news comes from David Schuster from "the Google+ microphone" and when this update is proven well, the global release is set to occur gradually over the coming weeks.  Users of the Moto X Style and Moto X 2014 should keep a close look out in their Settings for some chance of an OTA update.

There hasn't been much to be heard as far as upgrades are concerned, but there is news that T-Mobile's Moto X Pure Edition will get the Android update pretty soon, according to Yibada via Neurogadget.  However, there is no confirmation, and there is a soak test that takes at least more than one week.

As for when the rollout will occur for Moto devices, most users are probably aware how Android upgrades work.  That is, the newer devices will be receiving it first, and then it will trickle down to the older devices, with the oldest devices not quite getting it at all.  For example, the Moto E series will not be receiving a Marshmallow update, even though the newest in the series is not even one year old.  The highest Android it will be receiving is Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.

There are rumors suggesting that the Moto G (3rd Generation) will be receiving an update within the month, and the Moto G, 2nd Generation, will get its update one month after that.  Other devices that are slated to receive the update include the Moto X (2nd Generation), the Moto G LTE (2nd Gen), as well as other handsets like the Droid Maxx, Droid Maxx 2, Droid Turbo, and Droid Turbo 2 handsets, according to VC Post.   In addition to the type of the device, the rollout can be delayed due to the carrier, like the aforementioned T-Mobile, as well as Verizon, AT&T, and Sprint.
