Although production only started this week at the famous Pinewood Studios in London, the 24th James Bond film known as Spectre has been generating buzz for fans of the iconic British secret agent.
In the official Twitter account for Agent 007, a tweet featured an official photo from the shoot showing the clapperboard of an old wooden desk accompanied by the reconstructed ceramic bulldog owned by M (played by Judi Dench), who was wiped out by Silva (played by Javier Bardem) in Skyfall. The caption "Day 1. #SPECTRE" accompanied the photo in the tweet.
According to Alex Ritman of The Hollywood Reporter, Daniel Craig will return to the 007 role alongside Naomi Harris (Eve Moneypenny), Ben Whishaw (Quartermaster, also known as Q) and Ralph Fiennes (Gareth Mallory, who later becomes M), who are all reprising their roles from the last James Bond film in 2012, Skyfall. Director Sam Mendes, along with Skyfall writers John Logan, Neil Purvis and Rob Wade, will return behind the scenes.
As for the new cast members, Ritman noted that Christoph Waltz, Lea Seydoux, Dave Bautista, Andrew Scott and Monica Belluci will be in the upcoming film. Based on information from the 007 Twitter feed, Waltz will play Oberhauser, Seydoux will be Madeleine Swann, Belluci will star as Lucia Sciarra and Bautista will be Mr. Hinx.
Ritman speculated that the film's title may pay homage to what is mentioned in the original James Bond novels written by Ian Fleming.
"The name Spectre is likely to refer to the fictional terrorist organization that featured in James Bond novels and first appeared on screen in 1962's Dr. No," Ritman wrote. "It was led by Bond's nemesis Ernst Stavro Blofeld."
According to a CNN article, Mendes hinted that the speculation by 007 fans may be spot on.
"Those of you who have some knowledge of the Bond franchise and the legend of Bond will probably have some idea of what that refers to, but I couldn't possibly comment," Mendes said.
Besides shooting at Pinewood Studios, Ritman mentioned that film production will also take place around London as well as Rome, Morocco, Mexico City and the Austrian Alps.
In the event announcing the cast and location, the newest car for James Bond was revealed for the upcoming film, the Aston Martin DB10. Stephen Dobie provided a description of Bond's cool ride on the Top Gear website.
"It looks an entirely road-ready vehicle, and its Aston convention-matching name ought to be a deep hint that we're looking at a preview of the DB9's replacement," Dobie wrote. "As such, a 4.7-liter eight-cylinder apparently sits beneath that svelte bonnet. The DB10's panels are crafted from carbon fiber, as it's the quickest material to work with."
Dobie added that the DB10 shared similar traits with the Jaguar F-Type in terms of the side profile and the hindquarters. Not surprisingly, various car models from both Aston Martin and Jaguar have previously appeared in James Bond films.
According to Ritman, Spectre will make its United Kingdom debut on Oct. 23, 2015 and on Nov. 6, 2015 in the United States.
