'House of Cards' Season 4 Release Date, Update, Spoilers: Frank Underwood Regrets Being The President?

"House of Cards" season 4 is still more than three months away, but fans just cannot wait for more spoilers. Here is a roundup of the rumors and news of the upcoming season's storyline, plot, and cast.

"House of Cards" Season 4 is set on April 2015. One question that plagued most of the fans is what is in store for Frank Underwood in this new season. It is speculated that Underwood's year will be not as great as he would have liked. Being the president was all he wanted, and he would stop at nothing, even committing murder to reach this goal. However, being the president just might be the very thing that could break him, as N4BB speculated. It seems that being the presidency is not as fun as he thought it would, especially since he is unprepared for the monstrous duties, obligations, and realities associated with the title.

Reportedly, with intensifying opposition from his party, Frank would just break down from all the pressure. Those who love him will be the ones to suffer greatly, starting with his wife. It seems that Claire will leave him for good on this season because Frank cannot keep his political troubles away from the home. 

With their split, the show's dynamics will certainly change significantly. They were hailed as the perfect couple for a reason. With the once great marriage now possible a farce, a lot of changes may be introduced in this season. 

For one, there can be a new power couple - probably to replace or rival Frank and Claire. Interestingly, a half of this new couple may be Neve Campbell as reported by Deadline. It has been confirmed that the actress will join the cast as a series regular, even though nothing definite has yet been released on her role. 

If "House of Cards" Season 4 seems as if more emotional, than the previous seasons, it is because the show runners wanted it just so. Speaking with E News, showrunner Beau Willimon shared that they want this season to be emotional and less political - capturing the hearts of the viewers. 

"We wanted to delve deeper into the emotional story. We wanted a little less political intrigue and a little more of the emotional flux. We wanted to tell the story of the marriage. I think there were a lot of fans that really appreciated that. And for a lot of them, this turn that we took made it their favorite season," added Willimon.

While it is currently hard to see how the season can be a favorite if it meant Frank and Claire Underwood are facing persistent marital troubles, viewers will just need to have faith that the two actually pull through.
