Nancy Leigh DeMoss Celebrates 35 Years of Faithful Service

By Lauren Leigh Noske

This week, Nancy Leigh DeMoss celebrates thirty-five years of vocational ministry in teaching, mentoring, and spurring women on in their walks with Christ. The well-known Christian author and speaker has sold millions of books, and hosts two nationally syndicated radio programs, Revive Our Hearts and Seeking Him with Nancy Leigh DeMoss.

DeMoss came to know the Lord at an early age, and was raised in a family that was committed to Christ and His Great Commission. She has served in various ministerial roles, including directing children’s programs, leading women’s ministry, authoring books and Bible studies, and teaching women around the country through Christ-centered radio programs.

Revive Our Hearts is an outreach of Life Action Ministries that encourages women to “discover and embrace God’s design and mission for their lives” and to portray the beauty of Jesus Christ to others. Their website reads:

“Women have been bombarded with conflicting and overwhelming messages about what it means to be a woman. Climb the corporate ladder. Lose weight. Take the kids to soccer practice and ballet and piano lessons and art classes. Grocery shop. Eat healthy. Dress sexy. Go to church. Dress modestly. Volunteer at the homeless shelter. Maintain hundreds of relationships on social networking sites. Keep the house spotless. Be a great wife. Buy more gadgets to make life easier. Love the kids. Have a daily quiet time. Get another degree. Oh, yeah, and enjoy life!

Is it any wonder that women are stressed out, depressed, angry, guilty, fearful . . . numb?”

Through her radio shows, conferences, books, and websites, DeMoss has faithfully pointed women to meet their deepest need – to know, trust, love, and to enjoy Jesus Christ, and to be “willing to lay down our lives for the sake of Christ and the Gospel.”

DeMoss also celebrated 50 years of walking with God in 2013. “The most special occasion, and moment, and point of my life is the time when Jesus saved me, brought me to Himself,” she said in a series of videos remembering God’s faithfulness over the past fifty years. DeMoss encourages Christians to reflect back on their conversion and to remember “what God has done, and the journey He has had us on,” so that we might be hopeful for the future and trusting His unchanging, good character.

DeMoss tweeted this morning, “Celebrating the gift of 35 yrs of vocational ministry. ‘I thank Him who has given me strength...’ (1 Tim 1) #highcalling #unworthyservant.” Her books and bible studies, videos, and radio broadcasts can be found on the Revive Our Hearts website
