NBA Rumors: Golden State Warriors Offer DeMarcus Cousins 1-Year Deal; Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson Test Kings Star

The Golden State Warriors are still not done in their quest to create a super team. After landing the Kevin Durant free agency deal, Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green appear to have their eyes set to sign another NBA All-Star: DeMarcus Cousins. With the Rudy Gay trade rumors in full blast this offseason, Rajon Rondo shipped to the Chicago Bulls in free agency and 2016 NBA Draft picks that left a lot to be desired, the young Sacramento Kings center seems to be jumping off ship as well.

As one of the most explosive players in the NBA, DeMarcus Cousins is widely known to be a passionate young star. However, the Sacramento Kings front office appears to be failing in giving Boogie the kind of backup he needs to dominate the hardwood court. Hence, an offer from the Golden State Warriors - a team that broke the 72-win record of Michael Jordan with the Chicago Bulls - might just be the answer to Cousins' prayers.

In his previous interviews and press conferences, the comments from the center have fanned the flames of the DeMarcus Cousins trade rumors. Boogie himself shared how frustrated he gets every season when the Sacramento Kings fail to win crucial games. Armed with the knowledge that he is a valuable asset to any team, will DeMarcus Cousins finally get his wish with the Golden State Warriors?

"[I]t's about winning," said DeMarcus Cousins in an earlier interview. He added, "I got the All-Star appearances. I got Team USA. My name is out there. It's just about winning, it's about carrying a team. I mean, from a talent perspective I know I'm way above any other big man-now it's just about winning."

While the Golden State Warriors fell to the Cleveland Cavaliers led by LeBron James, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love, it is no secret that the Stephen Curry team pride themselves with a winning culture. Rising from their level as underdogs in the NBA, the former champions beat the likes of Miami Heat under Dwyane Wade, the Houston Rockets of James Harden and the San Antonio Spurs which had Kawhi Leonard and LaMarcus Aldridge.

At this point, the Golden State Warriors have an abundance of centers in Anderson Varejao, Zaza Pachulia and Damian Jones. While this might just end any possibility of adding another big man in DeMarcus Cousins, it looks like the Sacramento Kings star is more than just a one-trick pony.

"I want to get lighter than any of my previous years," shared Cousins during an offseason interview. He added, "The pace of the game has picked up a lot so I have to be ready for that."

Does this mean he is willing to shift positions if he ever gets traded to a team, such as the Golden State Warriors, that has too many centers? The answer is in the affirmative.

"My role changes a lot for Team USA, so I got to be a guy that's really getting up and down," described Boogie. He further shared, "I'm also trying to prepare my body for that."

DeMarcus Cousins will be playing with three Golden State Warriors stars in Team USA for the 2016 Rio Olympics. Although Stephen Curry is notable absent, it looks like the Sacramento Kings star is given the platform to impress Draymond Green, Harrison Barnes and Klay Thompson this summer. Will he be the latest addition to the super team of the NBA?
