The Phoenix Suns and Markieff Morris have a tumultuous relationship even before the NBA regular season commenced. The rift between the two parties started when the basketball team allegedly traded Marcus Morris to the Detroit Pistons. While the move was not something unheard of in the NBA, the Morris twins took offense over the way the Phoenix Suns handled the trade.
According to the enraged basketball stars, the Tyson Chandler squad failed to inform them beforehand of the plans. Hence, they only found out about the trade after the Phoenix Suns and the Detroit Pistons sealed the deal. Following his twin's departure, Markieff has been nothing but vocal about his desire to exit his current squad. In fact, his intense objection to being part of the Phoenix Suns even had him fined by the NBA.
"Look, we're not going to sit here and put our head in the sand and act like everything's OK and we're doing everything fine," said Ryan McDonough on the Markieff trade rumors, according to ESPN. The Phoenix Suns general manager added, "We obviously need to make some changes, and we'll explore those things as aggressively as we usually do."
Some sports analysts later on dubbed Markieff as a difficult player to have on the roster. Citing the actions of the power forward during the NBA regular season, rumors began to reveal that no other team wants the star. The Phoenix Suns, which had remained silent on the issue since the beginning, have been experiencing a difficult time trading Markieff. Experts believe that one of the concerns of other team owners is the attitude of the NBA star.
In an interview with Goran Dragic, however, it looks like Markieff's claims may have been well-founded. The Miami Heat star had been with the Phoenix Suns for approximately three years. He was drafted by the said team in 2008 and was later on traded to the Houston Rockets in 2011. The point guard then returned to the Phoenix Suns roster in 2012 to replace Steve Nash in the starting lineup. While Dragic had been a notable member of the squad, the NBA team eventually traded him and his brother, Zoran, to the Miami Heat. The said deal also saw the involvement of Anthony Davis' New Orleans Pelicans.
"It feels like they're always changing something," Dragic said of the Phoenix Suns via Yahoo Sports. He added, "They're not like Miami, San Antonio, those teams that are really loyal when they find something." Among the long-term members of the Miami Heat roster are Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. As for the San Antonio Spurs, their Big Three, Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili, have been with the NBA team for years.
Dragic further noted, "I always believe when you find some pieces that you leave those pieces [alone]. But then you upgrade the other positions. Like San Antonio is doing. They always have the Big Three, but then it's a good team. They always find another player at another position, so they're always good. But that's not my call."
