NBA Rumors: Sacramento Kings Mull Over Rudy Gay Trade; DeMarcus Cousins, Rajon Rondon To Lose SF

The Sacramento Kings are looking into adding another commanding presence in the hardwood court. With veteran Rajon Rondo signed to guide DeMarcus Cousins, the NBA team now attempts to find fresh faces to inject vigor in the squad. To achieve this goal, George Karl is reportedly looking into the possibility of striking a deal with the New Orleans Pelicans. Specifically, the Sacramento Kings are mulling over a deal to bring in Ryan Anderson.

However, the New Orleans Pelicans might not be easily swayed to let go of Anderson right away. Some sources disclosed that the Blake Griffin's Los Angeles Clippers and James Harden's Houston Rockets might be interested in him as well. Even LeBron James' Cleveland Cavaliers and Markieff Morris' Phoenix Suns are looking into signing Anderson. This means that the Sacramento Kings would need to up their game if they intend to snag the coveted deal.

"You know people always ask about trades, 'Are you're going to make a trade or you are going to do something on the short term?' We've got to do something that makes sense," explained Dell Demps, according to NOLA.com. The New Orleans Pelicans general manager added, "We can't just make a trade to make a trade. We just can't get rid of a guy and bring back lesser talent or is going to make the team deficient. So we're looking right now, but we got to be smart and make sure we're looking at the right things. But at the same time we're also going to look internally and see if we can find the right combinations out there on the floor that can help win right now."

The New Orleans Pelicans are at the bottom half of the Western Conference at the moment. The division, dominated by Stephen Curry's Golden State Warriors, also sees the Sacramento Kings in tenth place - an unexpected spot due to the combination of Rondo, Gay and Cousins in the roster. Meanwhile, the trade rumors surrounding Anderson is rooted from his scheduled free agency this year. This situation puts the pressure to the New Orleans Pelicans to have him traded before the February deadline. That is, if they intend to get something in exchange for a remarkable basketball star.

"We will be looking at that (small forward) position, and all positions you know, we want to win games," asserted Demps. He added, "The bottom line is we've got to figure out what it's going to take for us to win games.We are working right now and we will do what's needed to get this team on track."

He added, "Obviously we have dug ourselves a deep hole and it's going to be tough for us to fight back into it this year but we're always looking for the long term as well as the short term. We haven't given up on the season."

If the deal with the Sacramento Kings pushes through, Anderson will be an interesting addition to the Cousins-centered roster. Known as one of the elite stretch fours in the NBA, the 27-year-old New Orleans Pelicans star could serve as a great substitute for Gay. While this trade deal still needs official confirmation, Sheridan Hoops reports that both basketball teams have been aggressively working the phones.
