The San Antonio Spurs have a huge cap space following the Tim Duncan retirement and the possible exit of both Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili. With the Golden State Warriors acquiring Kevin Durant via free agency, a move that made the Stephen Curry squad a super team along with Klay Thompson and Draymond Green, the Western Conference just became even more competitive next season. Hence, a Blake Griffin trade is said to be in the works.

The Los Angeles Clippers have been stuck in a rut for the past few years with unimpressive runs in NBA playoffs. Despite retaining their core team of DeAndre Jordan, Chris Paul and Blake Griffin, the Doc Rivers squad keeps failing at toppling the Golden State Warriors - a goal that was pushed even further away with the surge of the Russell Westbrook squad in Oklahoma. With these in mind, the Los Angeles Clippers are expected to be open to a Blake Griffin trade this offseason.

The idea of putting Blake Griffin in the trading block signifies the possibility that the Los Angeles Clippers are dismantling their core and rebuilding for the next seasons. With promising future free agents, such as Stephen Curry, it is highly likely that Doc Rivers is looking at clearing up some cap space to offer the Golden State Warriors big fish a lucrative. Hence, a Blake Griffin trade might just be the answer.

Meanwhile, the San Antonio Spurs are said to be aggressively pursuing players who can be supporting pieces for Kawhi Leonard, LaMarcus Aldridge and Danny Green. However, fans feel that a Blake Griffin contract should be kept at minimum since the Los Angeles Clippers star has been ridden with injuries and off-court issues in the past season. Will the top 2009 draft pick agree to a minimum contract with the San Antonio Spurs?

It depends. At this point, the Los Angeles Clippers are adamant on their stance that they have no intention of participating in Blake Griffin trade talks. Despite reportedly getting calls from other NBA teams, such as the Boston Celtics, Oklahoma City Thunder and Chicago Bulls, it looks like Doc Rivers plans to keep the NBA All-Star in his roster for as long as possible.

"We are hoping that Blake ends his career playing for the Clippers, period," shared Doc Rivers when asked of Blake Griffin trade rumors. The Los Angeles Clippers head coach added, "So, when teams call, we say we have no interest."
