The Toronto Raptors have been a surprisingly notable team this NBA season. In fact, the Kyle Lowry squad is trailing only behind LeBron James' Cleveland Cavaliers and Al Harford's Atlanta Hawks in the Eastern Conference at this point in the basketball season. The Toronto Raptors are currently a spot above the Chicago Bulls - a remarkable feat considering the presence of Jimmy Butler, Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah in the former Michael Jordan team.
With the continuing success of the DeMar DeRozan squad, the key players are increasingly becoming valuable. As the Toronto Raptors are known to have a relatively young roster, it is important for the NBA team to have a stable and firm guiding force. For Lowry, he believes that Dwane Casey provides just that. Hence, the point guard refused to shy away from expressing his utmost support for the coach.
In an interview with Zach Lowe of ESPN's The Lowe Down, Lowry shared that Casey had been nothing but supportive in his career. The Toronto Raptors also listed down some of the things he achieved under the guidance of the esteemed coach. It came as no surprise later on when the point guard eagerly shared his belief that Casey should remain with the Toronto Raptors.
"He's done a good job, man," stated Lowry of Casey. The Toronto Raptors star added, "They always say the grass ain't always greener on the other side. So, for a guy who's got me into a situation where I've gotten paid, I'm an all-star, I'm going to go and say, 'listen, if he's back, he's back. I want him back.' That's one of those things where you've known a guy so long, but that's not my decision."
While Lowry was less aggressive in his delivery and conviction, his words certainly put in mind King James' stance during the NBA offseason. Earlier this year, the Cleveland Cavaliers feared that the former Miami Heat star would walk away from the team. The anxiety over James' possible departure was reportedly rooted from the contract of Tristan Thompson. The Cleveland Cavaliers and the Canadian basketball star eventually sealed a deal satisfying both parties.
"Casey's an unbelievable person and the nicest guy in the world," shared Lowry. The point guard added, "On the floor he's that old-school, southern, hard-nosed type of coach. I think me and him, our relationship has really grown throughout the years and he's learned to trust me, and I think I've learned to trust him, and I think that's why we have a better relationship."
The Toronto Raptors and Casey have yet to comment on the words of Lowry. Meanwhile, fans of the basketball team can celebrate their recent victory over John Wall's Washington Wizards 94-91.
