The Carolina Panthers are looking to redeem themselves after their foiled Super Bowl attempt last NFL season with Cam Newton pegged as an MVP contender as early as now. However, the Kelvin Benjamin squad still remains wary of the possibility of losing their leader - a risk they already took in the past seasons when the quarterback had been sidelined and only managed a few games. Hence, it comes as no surprise that a Michael Vick contract is anticipated to be in the works.

The former Philadelphia Eagles star has been linked to several football teams in the offseason including the San Francisco 49ers, Dallas Cowboys, and Arizona Cardinals. However, the veteran quarterback made it clear that his goal is not just to simply return to the NFL. For a Michael Vick contract to come into fruition, a Super Bowl contender team is required - a condition undoubtedly met by the Carolina Panthers.

"Football is football," shared Michael Vick in an earlier interview. He added, "I think those comments about playing for a championship contender got blown out of context. This isn't basketball where you can sign on at the very end and compete for a ring. I want to play the game I love, appreciate the sport. I've done that for 29 years now with all the ball I've played. I'm looking forward to another year. I've dedicated myself to do better than I did last year."

In the past, comparisons between Michael Vick and Cam Newton have been made with the former even weighing in on the comments. According to the ex-Philadelphia Eagles leader, he remains dominant in the league and can easily beat the Carolina Panthers star. While some fans viewed this negatively, others feel that the two could be great teammates in the gridiron.

Rumors are rife that the Carolina Panthers have zeroed in on a Michael Vick contract to ensure that their promising NFL season will not come to an abrupt end if Cam Newton gets injured. However, no official comment has been made by any of the parties involved. At the moment, the Carolina Panthers are busy celebrating their fresh win over the San Francisco 49ers where Cam Newton once again showed off the skills that made him the MVP last season.

"Cam is unlike any other quarterback in the league," said Chip Kelly. The San Francisco 49ers head coach added, "He's a second running back back there. ... It's like Eddie George that can throw. You know, it's a tough task for any defense."
