NFL Rumors: Cleveland Browns Eyes Tim Tebow As Robert Griffin III Backup; Christian Star Rejects Backup Role?

The Cleveland Browns are building their roster following the disappointing turn of events with Johnny Manziel. With the devastating losses in the wake of the whole Johnny Football drama, the NFL team now looks into Robert Griffin III as the new leader of the pack. While the former Washington Redskins quarterback undoubtedly comes in with revitalized talent and energy, the Cleveland Browns are seeking players who can stand behind RG3 and pick up where he might leave in case of injury or any other trouble. Some fans point to Tim Tebow as the suitable backup for Griffin. However, it looks like the former Philadelphia Eagles hopeful is not interested in playing as the second quarterback to RG3.

Rumors are circulating that Tebow is not keen in standing as a backup to Griffin due to the interest expressed by the Denver Broncos. Following the deal with Mark Sanchez, speculations started to reveal that the Peyton Manning squad is looking into luring the Christian NFL hopeful into the team as well. Despite the promising prospects with the Von Miller team, Tebow is reportedly still not interested in signing as a backup quarterback.

What can be more alluring to Tim Tebow than a chance to play in the NFL again? Why is the Heisman Trophy winner reportedly rejecting offers from the Cleveland Browns and the Denver Broncos? Is he finally getting a shot at becoming the starting quarterback somewhere else - perhaps with the San Francisco 49ers, Dallas Cowboys or New York Jets?

The answer is surprising. In his recent interviews, Tebow hinted at quitting football altogether. What is even more astonishing is the field he might pursue once he lets go of his NFL dreams. If his comments are any indication of his plans, it looks like Tebow might enter the political arena soon.

"It's been crazy, hasn't it? It's been a whirlwind watching everything. I don't know at this time in my life," said Tebow when asked of the possibility for him to pursue politics. He added, "If there's a chance to make a difference someday at something, that's intriguing."

His recent comments following the success of the 2016 Golf Classic at TPC Sawgrass fueled the speculations that football might no longer be in the cards for him. He shared, "Making a difference is always better than playing football. Golfing? Ehh, I don't really know about that. But being able to put a smile on a kid's face? Yeah."

According to the survey by the Public Policy Polling, Tebow is one of the most popular quarterbacks in the NFL. Despite his absence in the gridiron since 2012, the Tebow Nation remains strong. In fact, the Christian star surpassed the likes of Russell Wilson of the Seattle Seahawks, Ben Roethlisberger of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Drew Bees of the New Orleans Saints.

To be more specific, Tebow ranked fifth on the list of favorite quarterbacks. Ranking higher than Tebow are Brady of the New England Patriots and Peyton Manning of the Denver Broncos. Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers also entered the top five with Cam Newton of the Carolina Panthers rounding up the list.
