However, injuries thwarted the efforts of the Greg Hardy squad as they even lost star player Tony Romo along the way. The comeback efforts of the quarterback, albeit admirable, were deemed too late for the football team that saw their dream crash and burn by the second week of the NFL season.
While the Dallas Cowboys were disheartened over their performance this season, a silver lining is still in store. One of the positive things that came out over their disappointing run is a high ranking in the 2016 NFL Draft. The Dallas Cowboys are currently in fourth place for the said drafts, and one notable football star is already voicing out his desire to sign with the Romo squad: Derrick Henry.
The 2015 Heisman Trophy winner has been vocal about his willingness to help the ailing NFL team. The record-setting running back from the University of Alabama openly declared that the Dallas Cowboys would be an ideal football team for him to be a part of. Henry shared that the Jerry Jones squad is a "great" group to be signed with.
"I feel like it has a great organization," said Henry of the Dallas Cowboys, according to AL.com.
However, Henry's dreams might not come to fruition. At fourth place, some sports analysts feel that it would not be prudent for the Dallas Cowboys to "waste" their pick on the running back. The comments are rooted from the obvious need for the NFL team for a healthy quarterback. Romo, who has been battling his collarbone injury, still has to get a clean bill of health. Hence, the Dallas Cowboys might aim for a fresh talent to train for the crucial post.
This leads to a discussion of another NFL aspirant: Tim Tebow. Ever since his failure to snag the third quarterback post in the Philadelphia Eagles roster, the Christian star has been linked to some NFL teams. These include the Denver Broncos and San Francisco 49ers. Tebow is also rumored to be under consideration as Romo's backup for the Dallas Cowboys. Given that Tebow can function as both running back and quarterback, some sports analysts feel that he could make a great addition to the team.
As for Henry, he might not even make it as a first-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. The NFL experts ranked him to be included in the second round. However, the Heisman Trophy winner is not having it. Henry insists that he will be one of the football stars to be chosen in the first round.
"I feel like, just because I got my grade, it doesn't mean I'm not going to be first round," said Henry of his ranking. He added, "I feel like what I do and how I test at the combine and work out. I feel like I will be the first round. There's no doubt in my mind that I won't be."
He then went on to state his plan to guarantee his post as a first-round pick worthy candidate.
"Nobody is going to outwork me. I'm going to push and work hard every day. I feel like hard work pushes you over the limit and makes you who you are. I'm going to work hard every day. Nobody is going to out-work me," Henry said.
