NFL Rumors: Denver Broncos Prepare for Tony Romo Trade; Paxton Lynch Excited For Better QB Mentor

The Denver Broncos are in trouble particularly with their quarterback post. With former third stringer Trevor Siemian leading the team and an underwhelming Paxton Lynch as his backup, the Super Bowl champions are in danger of losing their crown this year. While it might be too late for the Von Miller squad to make big changes, it looks like their only option is to plan ahead and search for ways to redeem themselves next NFL season.

The most widely talked about possibility is a Tony Romo trade to the Denver Broncos. With Peyton Manning gone from the Super Bowl team, the group is in dire need of a veteran quarterback with a winning attitude and proven track record. On top of these, the Von Miller squad needs a better mentor for rookie Paxton Lynch - one who can provide him support and guidance he appears to not be receiving from Trevor Siemian. Given his remarkable stay with the Dallas Cowboys, Tony Romo seems to fit the bill perfectly well.

Rumors are rife that even the veteran quarterback himself has been open with ending his career with the Denver Broncos. Since the Dallas Cowboys clearly moved on from him to Dak Prescott, fans believe that Tony Romo is now looking for a new football team where he can spend the rest of his NFL years. While the New England Patriots, Houston Texans, and Seattle Seahawks are reportedly viable options, it appears that the Denver Broncos offer the most attractive deal.

"NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport reported last week that Romo is likely to be traded in the offseason, and is already eyeing the Denver Broncos as a potential landing spot. The Cowboys would not be forced to release Romo if they chose to move on, because there would be no shortage of teams willing to take a chance on him," reported Gregg Rosenthal of NFL.com. He added, "The trick, when it comes to dealing a 36-year-old quarterback with serious injury concerns, will be finding the right compensation."

Rosenthal went on to note, "It's no surprise that Romo would be eyeing the Broncos. Their great defense and organizational track record speak for themselves. Romo's desire to join a stable situation could also increase his willingness to be flexible on a contract (unlike, say, Colin Kaepernick in his dealings with the Broncos this offseason). Other teams on this list have bigger quarterback needs, but Elway is bold and all about those rings. He's built this Broncos team in large part on veteran pickups. Never count him out."

At the moment, a Tony Romo trade to the Denver Broncos remains an NFL rumor that has yet to be commented on by the parties involved. Right now, it looks like the veteran quarterback is focused on giving everything he can to support rookie Dak Prescott. Will Paxton Lynch have the same encouragement come next season?
