The Super Bowl 50 is only a few days away, but the excitement is heating up fans from both NFL teams. That is, Peyton Manning and his team is gunning to pull off yet another unexpected win - much like the one they delivered against Tom Brady's New England Patriots. However, the Denver Broncos must resolve a pressing matter first: who will be the starting quarterback for Super Bowl 50?
The Denver Broncos, a team that initially had ailing football stars, now has to contend with two healthy and very willing quarterbacks. While the return of Manning sealed the deal for the NFL team's Super Bowl dreams, some fans believe that the veteran must step down in the game against the Carolina Panthers. Sports analysts echo the clamor, saying that Brock Osweiler might be a better fit for the Denver Broncos this time around.
"I think he does understand what this game means and everything, but I think Peyton is done, man," said Michael Robinson viaNESN.
The NFL Media analyst added, "I'm going to be honest with you. I'm just going to be honest. I think we saw the last greatness of Peyton when we beat him in the Super Bowl, to be honest with you. Can he go out there and give you a game or two here and there? Yeah. Can he check to a run in a six-man box and check into a pass in a seven-man box? Yeah, he can do that. But I know a lot of guys sitting on the bench that can do that, too."
A former Seattle Seahawks star, Robinson went on to point out that Manning is losing his strengths in the field. The NFL insider further noted that the injuries that plagued the Denver Broncos star this season will not disappear anytime soon. Hence, Robinson feels that the best player to take over is Osweiler.
He said, "I don't know - we're talking about his arm strength - I don't know if (Manning's) arm strength is going to show up. I don't. I just don't. Again, playing two games in a row, I've had plantar fasciitis before, and that just doesn't go away. He's still going to have to deal with it. Again, to me, if I'm the Denver Broncos, I would have put Brock Osweiler in."
As for the Denver Broncos, it looks like the team is more thrilled than anxious over the quarterback drama. Gary Kubiak shared that the willingness of both Manning and Osweiler to take over in the Super Bowl 50 reflects their dedication to the sport. Moreover, the Denver Broncos head coach noted that there will be no need for drama within the football squad. That is, all members of the NFL team are focused on one thing: winning.
Kubiak shared via ESPN, "That it's going to take everybody to get where we want to go. Everybody wants to play. I'd be disappointed if they didn't. I want them to want to play, to believe they should be playing."
"But we've needed everybody to get to this point, and we're going to need everybody again. Our guys know that because winning is important to them. Doing things the right way is important to them," he added.
