It looks like Johnny Football is finally realizing the extent of the damage in his football career. In a rare occasion, Manziel opened up about his issues and shared his plans for the future. Addressing the problems plaguing his NFL career, the quarterback sought the support of everyone around him.
"I'm hoping to take care of the issues in front of me right now so I can focus on what I have to do if I want to play in 2016," said Manziel in a statement. He added, "I also continue to be thankful to those who really know me and support me."
In addition to his constant partying despite the demands of the football season, Manziel's career took a dive when he was tagged in a domestic violence case. The charges eventually pushed the Cleveland Browns to let him go and prompted the likes of the Dallas Cowboys, San Francisco 49ers, New York Jets and Philadelphia Eagles to distance themselves from his name. Moreover, Manziel earned the ire of some NFL stars who feel that he disrespected the profession.
"I'm pretty sure I would never have been Johnny Manziel's roommate," said Shannon Sharpe of the troubled quarterback. The NFL Hall of Fame star added, "I took football seriously. Football is not a game anymore. It's different. People's lives and jobs are at risk."
Sharpe also slammed the promise of Manziel to mend his ways. According to the famed tight end, the former Cleveland Browns star has failed to show how serious he is to pursue a career in the NFL. He said, "How long are you gonna buy his story that he's interested (in playing football)?"
