The momentous victory and performance of Carson Wentz over the Cleveland Browns earlier this week gave the Philadelphia Eagles the confidence that this NFL season might not go to waste after all. However, it looks like Doug Pederson is not taking any chances to ruin the momentum of the football team. Hence, a Johnny Manziel contract is said to be in the works in an effort to provide a veteran backup for the rookie.

Johnny Football came off a very difficult season in the NFL with the Cleveland Browns opting to eliminate him from their roster. However, the former Heisman Trophy winner has been consistent in his message since getting cut. That is, he plans to stage his return to the NFL soon and he is determined to prove his critics wrong.

Among the teams that were earlier linked to Johnny Manziel are the Dallas Cowboys, where he can serve backup to the injury prone Tony Romo; the New York Jets, where he presents a cheaper deal than Ryan Fitzpatrick; and Denver Broncos, where Von Miller reportedly wanted his buddy to replace Peyton Manning and Brock Osweiler. However, it appears that the Philadelphia Eagles might be the NFL team to land Johnny Manziel.

Rumors are rife that the Philadelphia Eagles are actively searching for a good backup for Carson Wentz. Fans believe that although the rookie seems promising, a more experienced hand still needs to be present in the roster. Will this be the chance for Johnny Manziel to redeem himself in the gridiron?

The answer remains uncertain. At this point, no official statement has been given by any of the parties involved. However, fans of the Philadelphia Eagles are hoping to see a veteran star to serve as backup for the talented Carson Wentz.

"My message to Carson? Obviously, enjoy it. This business is short-lived," shared Doug Pederson following the debut of the rookie. He added, "You get a chance to watch the film, make corrections, and we're on to the next opponent. And it's a different set of circumstances. It's like every one of our golf games in here. One day you shoot 75, the next day you shoot 85. You just have to take each game in stride. It's a Monday night game coming up, national spotlight. It's a road game. Noise, the whole thing. Enjoy this one, but we've got to come to work ready to play again."
