The San Francisco 49ers are in the midst of reclaiming the NFL team's former glory. Reports indicate that the addition of Chip Kelly in the staff is yet another step towards that direction. With the former Philadelphia Eagles head coach on board, the Colin Kaepernick squad is attempting a comeback. Moreover, the ex-mentor of DeMarco Murray is expected to revive the flailing career of the quarterback.

The 2015-16 NFL season saw Kaepernick get benched in favor of Blaine Gabbert. The move eventually prompted trade rumors involving the 28-year-old Nevada alum. While the San Francisco 49ers and the quarterback remained mum on the issue, fans of the NFL team believe that a trade is coming soon. However, it looks like the entry of Kelly in the San Francisco 49ers squad might change things.

With San Francisco 49ers execs previously refuse to give even just a hint on Kaepernick's future in the NFL team, the recent comments from CEO Jed York appear to be optimistic. Nowadays, the exec is heard saying that the entry of Kelly in the NFL team can present a "fresh start" for everybody.

"I'm not going to decide who the starting quarterback is. That's our coach, and then the staff," York said via the Richeisen Show. The CEO added, "But I think the nice thing is we have the third-most salary cap room in the league, and everybody wants to make a big issue of, 'Well, you need to make a decision on Colin.' Etcetera, etcetera. We want Colin to get back healthy as soon as possible. We want to make sure that he's able to take the field whenever he's available."

This is a far cry from the speculations during the NFL season - with some reports revealing that Kaepernick jerseys were on sale since the trade rumors started.

York added, "And we've all seen what Colin can do. Taking us to a Super Bowl, an NFC Championship game the year after. He's had a great career here. Obviously last year wasn't a great year for any of us in red and gold."

In fact, even Australian star Jarryd Hayne might become a staple member of the San Francisco 49ers roster next season.

"We haven't spent a ton of time speaking about individual players on a roster yet but I'll tell you [Kelly is] well aware of Jarryd and Jarryd's story, as is everyone in the National Football League by now," said Trent Baalke via The Guardian. He added, "He's excited to get his hands on him, the whole coaching staff is. We'll find out in short order who fits and who doesn't fit."
