At CES 2015, the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge was shown off in all of its glory at the booth and even giant size outside the Las Vegas Convention Center on a huge banner. The phablet phone was a late 2014 flagship for the company, but there has been more information released about its release date, price, specs, and above all, the inevitable Lollipop update.
According to Tech Times, you should be able to get the Galaxy Note Edge already. If you are an AT&T customer, it showed up on November 7th, and then showed up on Sprint and T-Mobile one week later on November 14th.
As for the price, AT&T is offering the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge in the choice of Charcoal Black and Frost White. The Note Edge will be priced at zero down on an AT&T Next 18 plan at $39.42 per month or $47.30 on an AT&T Next 12 plan, $399.99 when signing a new 2-year contract, or $945.99 off contract. Sprint will offer the Galaxy Note Edge for zero down and 24 monthly payments of $35, and should be available with a new two-year contract. Verizon has it for $399.99 with a 2-year contract or $799.99 with full price for the 32 GB version. Of course, what makes the Galaxy Note Edge stand out, feature-wise, is the new curved edge screen that has always-on access to email, the Internet, apps, notifications, and much more. This keeps the user "free from distractions", as notifications appear on the sloped side rather than at the top, like most Android phones. With the included stylus, this can really make you productive.
Other specs include a huge screen at 5.6 inches with a Quad HD Super AMOLED, 2560 x 1440 +160 (the 160 pixels on the edge). The Camera in front is 3.7 Megapixels with a f/1.9 that is good for selfies, and the rear camera is 16 Megapixels with Optical Image Stabilization. The Battery is a 3000mAh Li-ion made for very fast charging with 32 hours of talk time and up to 22 days of standby time. The operating system is still Android 4.4 KitKat, but according to International Business Times, it should be available for a Lollipop upgrade sometime by the end of January.
As I stated before, Samsung used CES 2015 to spotlight S-UHD TVs, but it did not reveal the new Galaxy S6. At least, not in any public setting, but there was a rumor of a secret room with the Samsung Galaxy S6 with the Sony Xperia Z4. Chances are, the company will reveal the Samsung Galaxy S6 at Mobile World Congress in March 2015 in Barcelona.
