Star Wars: Battlefront
Coming November 17, 2015. EA/DICE

The Star Wars Celebration was quite a place of excitement last week as EA's Star Wars gaming division, DICE, and Lucasfilm had an online reveal showing game engine footage and even some actual game footage of Star Wars: Battlefront for the PS4.  The game has a set release date for the PS4, Xbox One and PC, and it will be very close to the release of Star Wars Episode VII:  The Force Awakens.

IGN has stated that the effects of Star Wars: Battlefront is designed to look less like a video game and more like the effects of the original movies.  Within the game, you can play as iconic Star Wars characters such as Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, or Boba Fett, switching modes from 1st person to 3rd person.  The player can also drive iconic vehicles like the AT-AT (the walking tanks seen prominently in The Empire Strikes Back) or pilot ships like the TIE Fighter or X-Wing.

Gotta Be Mobile reports that Star Wars: Battlefront already has a planned DLC (Downloadable Content) called Planet of Jakku.  If you pre-order the game, you can play the Planet of Jakku on December 1st, while other users will have to wait until December 8th  for their free DLC package.  If you are a big time Star Wars fan and have never heard of the Planet of Jakku before, there is a good reason for that.  This world appears in Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens.  The game even ties into the long-awaited new Star Wars movie by showing events that took place before Episode VII begins.

Speaking of Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens, I would imagine that there were a lot of people who were very excited to see all the new footage on a brand new trailer for the film.  It certainly made its rounds on the Internet very fast, and several glad to see Harrison Ford back as Han Solo, telling Chewie that "We're Home".

The Star Wars Battlefront series has a reputation of ending too early, according to Gamerant.  The game is about fighting through enemy ranks for domination and control of maps that are key locations in the Star Wars films is definitely what Star Wars fans and gamers truly want to see.  There was a leak of alpha footage that showed both Hoth and Endor, two locations of battles from Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back and Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, respectively.

Apparently, Star Wars: Battlefront 3 was going to be released shortly after Battlefront II, which was over 10 years ago, but it was scrapped.  The fact that it was revived has given Star Wars fans loving the idea of reviving the currently scrapped Star Wars 1313, which was supposed to be a dark and gritty game taking place within the Star Wars universe.

Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens, is scheduled to come out on December 18, 2015, this is one deadline that really needs to me made.  In fact, Star Wars Battlefield 3 plans to cover all seven of the Star Wars movies, including the newest one, according to Venture Capital Post.  They also say that this is the "most expensive" Star Wars game in history, and it certainly is the most expansive.

According to the Latinos Post, Star Wars: Battlefront 3 intends to give everything that the first two Star Wars Battlefront games will have, and more.  Players can choose to play as a first person or third person shooter, and they can play as a Rebel or Empire, depending on what they want.  The game also has a 64 player only multiplayer mode, and players can even control bigger characters by spending points.

According to Yahoo Games, EA has a ten-year deal with the Star Wars franchise owner Disney that started in 2013 for games based on the popular franchise, developed by two of its marquee studios that include Battlefield series outfit DICE and Visceral Games, creators of the Dead Space series.

The game has a release date of November 17, 2015, and there will be special editions of the game available to those real die-hard fans.  As suspected, there doesn't seem to be any word about a PS3 or Xbox 360 version of Star Wars: Battlefront.  So if you don't have an Xbox One, PS4, or decent gaming PC, you might want to invest in that before the holidays.
