The Texas Right to Life organization will host a “Celebration of Life” in mid-September, honoring Governor Rick Perry with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his pro-life activism. The state-wide organization will also celebrate 40 years of supporting the preservation of life.

Texas Right to Life has been fighting for the rights of the unborn, the disabled, the sick, and the elderly for decades. “We seek due process of law and equal protection of the law for all human beings from the moment of fertilization until natural death and without regard to their age or physical and mental competence,” their website reads.

Texas Governor Rick Perry will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award for his dedication to the preservation of life. Perry, who has held the longest term in office as governor in Texas history, has fought hard to enact legislation in support of life. Most recently, he called Congress to two special sessions in an effort to pass House Bill 2, which bans late-term abortions and is projected to close down most of abortion clinics in the state who do not comply with the bill’s higher healthcare standards.

Perry opposes every type of abortion, including that of a pregnancy caused by incest or rape, with the rare exception of having no other means to save a mother’s life. He supports adult stem cell research, which takes stem cells from adult tissue samples rather than from unborn children, and actually underwent adult stem cell surgery in 2011.

The “Celebration of Life” will be held in Houston, Texas on September 13, and tickets can be reserved online. The organization has faithfully proclaimed that “Human life is a sacred gift of our Creator, and only He has the power to end human life” for years – they uphold that “No lasting change can take hold in our land until all people truly believe that Life is sacred and must be protected.”
