Glee season 5 episode 3 "The Quarterback" aired last night. Two months after Cory Monteith's death, Glee cast said goodbye to Finn Hudson, the character played by the late Cory, on Thursday's tribute episode.
The episode remembered Finn in song, but did not reveal the cause of his death. The storyline focuses around someone stealing Hudson's letterman jacket and Matthew Morrison's character inviting everyone to join in and sing songs in his memory.
They perform "Seasons of Love" from Rent, one of the world's greatest songs about life and death. Cory's girlfriend Lea Michele sings "Make You Feel My Love" while openly crying. Most of the rest of the room is also openly crying, holding onto each other as Rachel holds onto herself, gripping each elbow with the opposite hand, literally holding herself together.

Although the episode did not address the cause of Finn's death, Monteith's costars Jane Lynch, Matthew Morrison and Kevin McHale spoke in a PSA addressing drug addiction.
The clip, called "Our Friend," aired at the end of the tribute and was taped on the Glee set.
"Our friend Cory didn't look, or act like an addict," Lynch says. "He was happy, successful and seemingly had it all."
"Addiction is a serious disease that can hide in plain sight but no one needs to fight it alone," Morrison said.
Monteith, who played McKinley High quarterback and glee-club member Finn Hudson on the show, died July 13 in his Vancouver hotel room from an accidental drug overdose The British Columbia Coroners Service confirmed that Monteith's death was accidental. He "died of mixed drug toxicity, involving intravenous heroin use combined with the ingestion of alcohol," the coroners service said in a statement.
