In what organizers are calling a “national awakening,” thousands of churches across the United States are preparing to unite on June 8, 2025, for a simultaneous mass baptism event under the banner of “Baptize America.”

This ambitious movement follows the historic success of “Baptize California”, held earlier this month on May 3rd at Huntington Beach, where over 7,700 people were baptized in the Pacific Ocean, and more than 30,000 participants gathered in a powerful demonstration of spiritual renewal.

Among the crowd in California was a face that caught the attention of both media and attendees alike — Michael Franzese, a former mafia boss turned Christian speaker. Standing on stage, Franzese shared his journey from organized crime to faith, emphasizing the transformative power of the Gospel. In an emotional moment, one of his longtime friends also received baptism in the ocean alongside thousands of others.

The upcoming June 8 campaign aims to scale that moment nationally. Churches of various denominations — from megachurches to small-town congregations — are set to participate in coordinated baptisms in rivers, lakes, oceans, and sanctuaries across the country.

Organizers describe the event as “a declaration of hope and unity” at a time when many communities are seeking restoration, connection, and purpose. According to the official website Baptize.org, the vision of the movement includes four goals:

  • Proclaiming the Gospel

  • Publicly declaring faith

  • Encouraging personal transformation

  • Fostering unity across the Church in America

“What happened in California was just the beginning,” said one of the lead organizers. “We believe God is stirring something deeper — not just on the coast, but from city to city, church to church, person to person.”

The Baptize America campaign reflects a growing interest in grassroots revival across the United States. While large-scale evangelistic movements have become less common in recent decades, this initiative is reviving a tradition of public declaration and mass participation.

Churches and individuals interested in joining the June 8th event can sign up or find local gatherings through the official Baptize America website.
